About BuildWright
A Guided Methodology for Non-Technical AI Builders

01 — Method
How BuildWright Works
BuildWright combines learning and hands-on product development.
The methodology uses a sequence of Markdown guides that lead a builder through the development process one stage at a time. Each guide provides context about the work being done, explains relevant concepts, identifies decisions that need to be made, and guides the builder through applying those ideas directly to their own product.
The process is intentionally sequential. Work completed in one stage provides context and artifacts that support the stages that follow.
BuildWright is designed to help non-technical builders work effectively with AI coding tools without simply turning the product-development process over to the AI.
The AI can assist with activities such as research, analysis, planning, coding, troubleshooting, testing, and iteration. The human builder remains responsible for understanding the problem, evaluating recommendations, making decisions, testing the work, and determining whether the resulting product is appropriate and ready to move forward.
The methodology provides more explicit structure and guidance while a builder is developing experience. Over time, many of the practices and decision-making habits embedded in BuildWright can become part of the builder’s own way of working.

About BuildWright

BuildWright was created by Kellie Kreiser through the development and operation of the Thunderbird AI Hatchery at Thunderbird School of Global Management at Arizona State University.
The methodology developed through hands-on work supporting emerging and non-technical AI builders as they created real software products using generative AI and coding agents.
BuildWright reflects lessons gathered through repeated experimentation, observation, troubleshooting, testing, reflection, and refinement across product-development projects.
The methodology is intended to provide a repeatable process that helps builders move from early research and product definition through development, testing, and launch while developing their own judgment and understanding of the product-development process.
